Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), an organization dedicated to serving abused and neglected children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties, recently held a Bunco fundraising event at Chandlers Landing Yacht Club, sponsored by Republic Services.
Republic Services’ sponsorship comes with a donation of $10,000 to help Lone Star CASA continue its mission to help children.
“This was our first ever Bunco event” said Lauren Rowe, Executive Director of Lone Star CASA. “By any measure, it was a success — and that’s partly because of Republic Service’s contribution. It costs $7 per day for us to serve just one child. Their donation will helps us to ensure each child in Rockwall and Kaufman County have an advocate by their side.”
Just this past month, Lone Star CASA is helping 195 children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties.
“Giving back to our community partners is so important to us here at Republic Services,” says Rick Bernas, Manager of Municipal Sales for Republic Services. “As I educated myself on what CASA does for the children in Rockwall and Kaufman county and their needs I knew we were going to make something happen for this great organization. We are honoured to be able to assist in any way we can.”
“Bunco was a lot of fun, but the event served a purpose,” noted Jennifer Ashmore, President of the Lone Star CASA board of directors. “Our players, sponsors, and Republic Services really stepped up to help further our mission. Thank you to everybody involved and thank you to Republic Services for being our title sponsor.”
