Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), an organization dedicated to the serving abused and neglected children in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties, is the benefactor of “Cheers for CASA,” an event conceived by Crystal Hollis, a member of Rockwall’s local community, and Jennifer Ashmore, Board President of Lone Star CASA.
Cheers for CASA begins streaming live on Facebook Friday night, May 8th at 5:30pm with a signature cocktail made by local celebrity bartender, Judge David Sweet, sold at the Roundabout over the weekend supporting CASA. The Roundabout is a popular pub and grill located in the downtown historic district of Rockwall and is committing 5% of all proceeds Friday and Saturday to Lone Star CASA.
On Saturday, May 9th, they are inviting people to drive by San Jacinto St. at Ashmore & Ashmore law firm from 11 AM – 1 PM where attendees have the opportunity to tip CASA with donations. After donating, attendees can continue to support CASA by having lunch and cocktails at the Roundabout (or purchase to-go).
“We are so thankful for all small businesses that are supporting this event. It takes a community to pull something like this off, and we’re tremendously grateful,” says Mrs. Hollis.
Cheers for CASA will also feature a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses. Tickets are 10 for $10 at https://go.rallyup.com/cheersforcasa/. T-shirts will also be sold for the event. More information can be found on the Facebook Event page, “Cheers to Lone Star CASA.”
“The work we do for abused and neglected children is so important,” notes Mrs. Ashmore, “Last year, we serviced 285 children in our community, and those numbers are rising rapidly. This year we’re facing a budget shortfall due to COVID19 and need everybody to contribute and make sure every child that needs help gets it.”
Those who aren’t able to attend the event are encouraged to visit https://lonestarcasa.org/help and make a donation online. All it takes is $7 to support a child for one day.
