Love is Patient: Lone Star CASA Celebrates a Long-Awaited Adoption

Rockwall TX —

For Immediate Release

Rockwall County, Texas – Lone Star CASA celebrates the adoption of Joey, a young boy who endured prolonged uncertainty in finding his forever home after almost four years in foster care.

At just one year old, Joey entered foster care when it was determined that his home environment presented immediate danger to his safety. Soon, a safe placement with caring foster parents was identified and CASA stepped up to advocate for Joey’s best interest. When his biological parents were unable to make necessary changes, his foster parents and his CASA were committed to providing stability, care, and affection. With CASA’s guidance, Joey received consistent support as he participated in ongoing therapy to address symptoms of trauma.

Joey’s adoption was delayed while his biological parents participated in lengthy legal battles that moved all the way to the Texas Supreme Court. Despite a prolonged delay in the adoption process, his foster parents remained patient, dedicated to Joey’s well-being. His advocate provided consistency and encouragement during this uncertain time as she knew that her unwavering presence would help change the trajectory of Joey’s life. Because of the care he received from his foster parents, therapists, teachers, and his advocate, he made a tremendous growth academically, socially, and emotionally. The attentive support, routine check-ins, and ongoing advocacy CASA provided proved to be a blessing.

One final court ruling after almost four years marked the beginning of a secure future for Joey and his adoption could now be finalized. This joyous occasion represented the end of a challenging journey, and Joey had found his forever home! In response to Lone Star CASA for the prolonged support received one of Joey’s adoptive parents said, “Thank you all for sticking with us through these years. We just love y’all!”

“Joey’s journey highlights our commitment to advocating for the best interest of countless children in foster care, despite the complex obstacles each individual case presents,” says Lauren Rowe, Executive Director of Lone Star CASA. Lone Star CASA supports children healing from harm, navigating foster care, and through the reunification or adoption process.
