The Texas Bar Foundation recently made a generous donation of $15,000 to Lone Star CASA, an organization that provides children in foster care with a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer to advocate for their best interests.
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation. Their generous donation will support Lone Star CASA’s advocacy efforts starting in Kaufman County. These funds will be allocated towards families involved in the child welfare system, whose children are able to remain safely in their home.
The grant will specifically help fund Lone Star CASA’s brand-new program Justice-Involved Youth (JIY) aimed at transforming the trajectory of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. This initiative places trained CASA volunteers alongside youth in Kaufman County who are placed on formal probation—offering consistent, trauma-informed, and youth-centered advocacy from the moment of adjudication. Dedicated (JIY) volunteer advocates will do more than monitor progress—they will walk alongside each youth, building trust, understanding their unique needs, and standing as a consistent presence during a time of instability.
“We are so thankful for the support from the Texas Bar Foundation” said Lauren Rowe, Executive Director of Lone Star CASA. “It’s because of the continued generosity of our community and supporters like the Texas Bar that we can do the work we do advocating for children in foster care and their families.”
