Lone Star CASA is proud to announce the purchase of its first standalone property in Kaufman County, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s continued growth and commitment to serving children and youth throughout the community.
Since 1992, Lone Star CASA has served children in Rockwall County as Court Appointed Special Advocates. In 2004, the organization expanded its reach to Kaufman County. For more than two decades, Lone Star CASA has maintained a consistent presence in Kaufman County while witnessing substantial growth in the number of children and families needing advocacy services.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Kaufman County’s population grew 5.7% from July 2024 to July 2025, ranking it among the three fastest-growing counties in the nation by percentage. Since 2020, the county’s population has grown by approximately 44%, reaching an estimated 209,235 residents in 2025. As Kaufman County continues to grow, so does the importance of having strong local resources to support children and families. Lone Star CASA has been fortunate to have office space generously provided to support its team and volunteers, and now the organization is taking an exciting next step by investing in and establishing a permanent home of its own in Kaufman County.
“We are incredibly proud of this milestone and what it represents for the future of Lone Star CASA in Kaufman County,” said Jacob Griffin, Executive Director. “This property is more than a building. It is an investment in our volunteers, our staff, our community partnerships, and most importantly, the children and youth who need a consistent voice and advocate in their corner.”
The new location will provide dedicated space for CASA volunteers to meet with their supervisors, access resources, connect with staff, participate in training, and gather as a CASA community. The larger space will also create additional opportunities for volunteer recruitment, community engagement, and organizational growth.
Lone Star CASA anticipates several months of initial repairs and renovations, with plans to open the doors by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
The property purchase comes at an important time for Lone Star CASA as the organization continues to strengthen its presence and capacity in Kaufman County. The organization recently updated its mission statement to better reflect its work and vision:
“Lone Star CASA advocates for children and youth in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties by empowering trained volunteers to amplify their voices, partner with families, and promote safety, stability, and positive futures.”
The new Kaufman County property represents a long-term commitment to that mission.
“We are not just serving Kaufman County, we are laying roots here,” Board President Kim Campbell. “We are incredibly grateful to the donors, volunteers, board members, community partners, and supporters who have helped make this next chapter possible. We look forward to welcoming our CASA family into their new Kaufman County home and continuing to grow our ability to serve children who have experienced abuse and neglect.”
