5k race/On site Registration 7:00 AM

The Event

Speak Up For Kids CASA 5K events across the state raise funds and friends for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers who speak up for abused and neglected children. The Speak Up For Kids CASA 5K Series is proudly presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and is supported by Texas CASA.

Proceeds from the 5K event benefit the Lone Star CASA program in their efforts to recruit and train CASA volunteers to give a “voice” to abused and neglected children in court and the foster care system.

Schedule of Events

7:00 AM: Check-in/Late Registration

7:45 AM: Stretch & Warm-up

8:00 AM: Kids Fun Run (under a mile)

8:30 AM: 5K Race/Walk (3.1 miles)

9:30 AM: Awards

All morning: Wrap-around activities

Awards for Male and Female 5K Overall, Masters, and top 3 male & female finishers in the following categories will also be awarded:

14 and under 15-19 20-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49 50-54 55-59 60+

That’s where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn’t continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system.

As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive.

It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
